Basic Auto Technology

Launch your career in the automotive industry with hands-on, in-demand skills.

Penta Career Center’s Basic Auto Technology Program provides students with foundational knowledge and practical experience needed for entry-level employment in the automotive field. Through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on training, students learn essential maintenance, diagnostic, and repair skills while emphasizing safety, professionalism, and customer service.

Students are prepared to work in quick-service shops, dealerships, and automotive service centers with the confidence and technical skills employers seek.

Tuesday & Thursday | 5:00–8:00 p.m.

 Program Highlights

• Oil and lube services, including inspection and replacement of oil, filters, and fluids
• Vehicle inspection procedures and preventative maintenance
• Tire repair, replacement, and balancing
• Batteries and charging system diagnostics and service
• Air conditioning system diagnosis and repair
• Heating and engine cooling system service
• Workplace safety practices and environmental awareness
• Professional communication and customer service skills

Career Preparation & Licensure

Upon successful completion of the Basic Auto Technology Program, students are eligible to earn industry-recognized credentials that prepare them for employment in the automotive service industry.

Students will earn:

• Automotive Oil Change Association (AOCA) Certified Lube Technician
• EPA Section 609 Certification – Motor Vehicle Air Conditioning

These credentials validate students’ skills and knowledge in automotive maintenance, safety, and environmental standards.

Enrollment Requirements
To enroll, students must:

• Complete online registration and submit the $100 non-refundable registration fee (applied toward tuition)
• Be 18 years of age or older
• Provide an unexpired Driver’s License or State ID
• Submit proof of high school completion (High School Diploma, official transcript, or HSE/GED transcript)

• Complete all required enrollment documents in the student portal
• Pay tuition in full before classes start

Important Note: This program is not eligible for financial aid. All funding must be secured by the student before enrolling.

 Program Expectations

• Students must provide appropriate work attire (closed-toe shoes, work pants, etc.)
• Students must adhere to all safety, dress code, and attendance policies
• Students must participate in hands-on training activities
• Students must complete all required hours and coursework
• Students must demonstrate professionalism and safe work practices at all times
